Stories Without Borders online conference

Russian version

From the 17th till the 19th of May international storytelling experts and narrative practitioners will share how to build bridges between people, family members, teams, companies, past, present and future through story!

We want to help you build bridges instead of existing walls

There are many walls around us: some permit teams to come to a common point of view on what to do next. Other walls stop us from hearing our loved one. Still other walls block us away from the courage to try to change something for the better in our life.

These walls are built of stories – for example, if a colleague fails to respond to a request for help a couple of times, we start telling ourselves a story about him being an unresponsive person.

We didn't build all the walls ourselves – some were built for us. But we have the power to dismantle them into bricks and build bridges. To learn more about the “Why” behind this conference, watch the video invitation from the conference host, Artem Mushin-Makedonsky:

For three days we will be sharing how to erase existing borders and build bridges instead:

  • Bridges within us — stories will help build a bridge from shame to self-confidence and hope.
  • Bridges between people — stories will help to hear the other, resolve conflicts, overcome opposing views and strengthen trust.
  • Bridges between groups — stories will help overcome stereotypes and see other people as living beings.
  • Bridges between senior management and employees — stories will help people see people on the "other floor" of the company and find ways to speak the same language.
  • Bridges between teams — stories will help you find a common goal, overcome differences and unite to achieve greatness.
  • Bridges between companies — stories will help you see that competition is more than a fierce rivalry and find a common language for the benefit of all market players (including the planet).
  • Bridges between countries and nations — stories will hopefully help us make small steps to a more peaceful world

This conference will be of interest to team and company leaders, HR, mediators, facilitators, consultants, psychologists, and also the people who:

  • help people achieve more together than is possible to do alone.
  • help people overcome their own boundaries and build new inner and outer connections.
  • help people overcome disagreements and seek a peaceful solution to conflict situations.
  • want to better understand how to overcome the polarization between people, teams, companies, countries.

The conference will feature 25 international experts on strategic storytelling and narrative practices of working with people and organizations, including:

  • Geoff Mead – 30+ years of developing leaders in organizations around the world, founder of Narrative Leadership Associates, Professor at Oxford Saïd Business School and Hult Business School.
  • Mark Schenck – managing partner of Anecdote, the largest business storytelling consulting company.
  • Jill Freedman, MSW and Gene Combs, MD, Experts internationally recognized for their advances in narrative theory and training, co-directors of Evanston Family Therapy Center.
